I attended the December School Board meeting which started at 8 p.m. and I left at1 a.m. with the meeting still in progress.

During the meeting there were discussions by the board on staffing and class sizes. These items, amongst others, were being looked at as the upcoming budget looms.

Just before I left, a Sea Cliff resident stood up and basically told the board that if class sizes were made larger and not to their liking, there would be a furor worse than the one affecting Dr. Root's contract. This board, again, was elected by the majority of the North Shore School District and not the vocal minority. I don't believe any member should be threatened by anyone. This goes back to my original thought that the board should have stood its ground on the superintendent's contract. I guess now when we don't like a board decision, we can just make threats and try and get them to change their minds.

In closing, I would like to say this meeting was well conducted and full of information. Dr. Root's informative presentation on staffing was very well presented.

I also liked hearing that the board is looking into all areas of the budget, which has to be done during these challenging times.

Again, I urge all residents to vote on the issues.
