Eugene A. Decker, 60, a life long resident of Glen Cove, died on Dec. 14, 2001, from leukemia (ALL). He was a longtime employee of the Glen Head Country Club. Husband of Judy (nee Hammell). Father of Jodi Ann. Brother of Lawrence, Robert (Inga), Michael (Frances), Gertrude, Gloria Jacobi (Jack), the late Dorothy Montick and Richard. Gertrude L. Heilig (nee Shaw), formerly of Glen Cove, died on Dec. 14, 2001 at Hanover Hall Nursing Home in Hanover, PA. She was 96. She was the wife of August Sr. who predeceased her in 1968. She worked for many years for W.T. Grant Co. in Glen Cove and was a former member of the Golden Age Senior Citizen's Club before moving to Pennsylvania. Also surviving are a son August Jr. (Marilyn) of Littlestown, PA; a daughter Gertrude Dawson of Maine; grandsons, James Heilig (Debi) of Florida and Allan Heilig (Amy) of Maryland; granddaughters, Dr. Janine Taylor (Bryan) of Maryland, Lynette Dawson of Massachusetts and Danielle Dawson of Paris, France. She also leaves six great-grandchildren; a sister Margaret of Oyster Bay; and many nieces and nephews. Arrangements were made by the McLaughlin Kramer Megiel Funeral Home, Glen Cove.
