With the holiday season in full swing the Glen Cove High School Big Red Basketball team is about to open their 2001-02 season. The addition of some new players to the returning players from last season brings signs of Glen Cove getting back to being a very competitive team this winter. The cause for high hopes for this season is the return of three starters from the county finalist team of two years ago. Led by all-county player Allan Seaman and joined by point guard Ivan Rivera and defensive specialist Tim Jackson.

Rounding out the team is 6'6" All-Conference player Craig Hansen from last season's team. Also returning are five players from last year's team led by senior Andrew Morra, Kris Osborne, John Heffernan, Dom Bocchino, and Tomas Foote. Other team members who give the team much needed depth include Zhivargo Simmons, Brandon Alexander, Cliff Johnson, Frank Carrotta, Tom Monahan, Jeff Moore, Deon Cofield and Joe Passalaqua. This year promises to be an exciting season so come out to support the Big Red this winter.

The season opener is at home Tuesday, December 11 against West Hempstead at 6:30 p.m.
