Thomas E. Jurgens, a 26-year-old Senior Court Officer at Manhattan Supreme Court, died heroically on Sept. 11, 2001. Tommy was also a Captain of Engine #332 of the Meadowmere Park Volunteer Fire Dept. and was honorably discharged from the US Army, Army Reserves and the National Guard where he was a combat medic. Tommy is survived by his proud and loving family which includes his wife Joan; father Joseph; stepmom Barbara; mother Linda; stepfather Alan; two brothers Joseph and Bradley; a sister Jessica; grandmother Margaret Dracker; grandfather Robert Blakeman; mother and father-in-law Joan and Andy Schmitt; goddaughter Kayla Schmitt; as well as many relatives and friends.
Tommy will be deeply missed and will always be remembered for his loyalty, generosity, sincerity, sense of humor, and most of all his heroism and great love. A memorial wake will be held at the Whitting Funeral Home, 300 Glen Cove Ave., Glen Head, on Nov. 15 from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. There will be a Fire Dept. service at 8 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial Mass will be held at St. Raymond's RC Church, 263 Atlantic Ave., E. Rockaway, on Nov. 16 at noon. Victoria Jane Murchison, 77, of Boca Raton, FL, passed away on Nov. 2, 2001, at the Boca Raton Community Hospital. She was a graduate of Katherine Gibbs and worked as a legal assistant at Munley and Meade of Great Neck. She was an active member of St. Gregory's Episcopal Church in Boca Raton and St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Glen Cove. Mrs. Murchison is survived by her husband Kenneth F.; three sons, Rev. Dr. Malcolm F. (Lin) of Vero Beach, FL, Bruce K. (Laurel) of Houston, TX and Peter D. (Rose) of Ridgefield, CT; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Arrangements were made by the Babione Funeral Home, Boca Raton. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Glen Cove on Nov. 18. Maria Licenziato, of Glen Cove, died on Nov. 6, 2001. Wife of the late Joseph. Mother of Gennaro. Sister of Grace Montesano, Adrian Stango and Rita Staub. Albert A. Heilig, of East Norwich, died on Nov. 6, 2001. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus #1206 and a Fourth Degree Knight. Husband of Anne.
