The Big Red completed the regular season by defeating Carle Place 4-0.Goals were scored by Mike Grella (2) and Jose Oliva (2). Herbert Lazo and Harold Arana had assists.This was another total team victory as both the offense and defense contributed to the win. Goalies Frank Carrotta and Andrew Morra, defenders Jason Lindenbaum, Mike Gonzalez, Scott Arnone, Isreal Cruz and Jake Rubin shut out Carle Place's offense.
Midfielders Ben Lowell, Dom Bocchino, Richie Rivera, Tony Condello, Martin Garcia, Jorge Arana, Edwin Vasquez and Jose Arevalo helped the forwards score a league high 4 goals in the last game of the regular season. The team finished with an overall record of 11 wins, 1loss and 4 ties.
The cross country team of Gino Dattalo, Mike Biscardi, Allen Shin, Manjit Singh, Tin Chin, Joe Mazza, and Jason Geller qualified to go to the County Championships on Saturday, November 3rd. The Championships will be held at Bethpage State Park and will also be the qualifier for the State Championships. The team finished the Conference Championships in 5th place, and it was the highest finish for the Big Red in several years.
Season Wrap up: The boys junior varsity soccer team finished the season on Oct.22.
The league record was 8-2-2 and was an overall 11-2-2.
Glen Cove was led by Josue Cruz (18 goals) and Jahison Higgins (13 goals), Mike Moran, Joe Salamone, Anthony Genova, Pete Charan, Gio Arce, and Anthony Carrotta. Defensively, the team was led by goalkeeper Steven Morales (1.3 goals allowed per game) Tom O'Rourke, Max Feigman, Jon Kobets, Victor Sanchez, Mark Galluccio and Jordan Brondo.Juilo Arana and Rocco Totino added a spark to the offense. Daniel Garcia,Pablo Papasidero,Jack Worth and Saverio Zappone added strength to the midfield.Frank Graziosi and Gonzo Perez strengthened the team defensively. The team finished an impressive season with a 4 - 0 win over Carle Place. The record was exceptional and one the was representative of a great season of soccer played by a great group of young men.
