(The following letter to the North Shore School Board Trustees is printed here at the writers' request).

We at the Central Office have had the pleasure of working with the superintendent of schools, Dr. Robert Root, for many years, first as assistant superintendent of instruction and later as superintendent. We know him to be exceptionally dedicated, intelligent, and committed to excellence in education for all the children of the district.

With that in mind, we respectfully request those members of the board of education who voted not to renew the superintendent's contract to reconsider their decision.
