Clement P. Abbondandolo of Glen Cove died on Oct. 9, 2001. Husband of Mary, (Mauti). Father of Marlene Nowicki (Roy) Michael (Judith) and Gregory (Melody). Grandfather of Gregory, Joanna), Todd (Cynthia), Russell and Gregory (Maria) Abbondandolo, Justine Greenblatt (Bryan) and Stephan Nowicki. Great grandfather of four. Reposed at the M.L. William Sokolow, 91, of Darien, CT., formerly of Glen Cove and Arcadia, CA., died on Oct. 5, 2001. He was born in New York City and attended Fordham University College of Pharmacy, Class of 1930. He served in the US Coast Guard during World War II and saw action in the North Atlantic and Pacific theaters aboard the destroyer USS Marchand and USS Camp. He moved to California in 1948 where he was a self-employed and successful businessman. Upon retirement he remarried and moved to Glen Cove. He finally relocated to Darien in January, 2000. His passions were his family, making friends of strangers, travel and reading. He was a consummate storyteller and historian. He is survived by his son, Alan, daughter-in-law Robin and grandchildren Morgan, Schuyler, Calder and Campbell. He will be deeply missed for his good humor and quick wit. A private memorial service was held at his home. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations in his name be sent to the Darien Library, 35 Leroy Avenue, Darien, CT 06820. William was an avid patron of the library.
