Jane Kersten, of Glen Head, died on Sept. 24, 2001, in her 73rd year, after a prolonged illness. Wife of Jack. Mother of Richard (Sharon), Fred, Barbara Jeanne and Scott (Barbara Ann). Arthur A. Sowinski, of Glen Head, died on Sept. 24, 2001, at the age of 80. Arthur was born on May 27, 1921 to Alex and Anna Sowinski (nee Zakrzewska). Arthur married Rosemarie T. Pisanelli on Oct. 4, 1958 in Brooklyn. He was a navigator and bombardier in the South Pacific Fleet for the Army Air-Corps during WWII. He was a graduate of St. John's School of Pharmacy, Class of 1951 and retired from FDNY as deputy chief in 1983 after 41 years of service. Husband of the late Rosemarie. Father of Sarah Herman of Poughkeepsie, Arthur P. of East Northport, Peter of Glen Head, Sabina of Glen Head, Stephanie Bondar of Syosset and Alexandra Caro of Beacon Falls, CT. Father-in-law of John Herman, Robert Bondar and Eric Caro. Grandfather of Craig, Colin, Christian Herman; Carly Rose Bondar; Liam and Justin Caro.
