The North Shore Citizen's Committee for Library Service announces an informational meeting for community residents who are interested in learning about the position of library trustee. This meeting will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 12 at 7:30 p.m. in the North Shore High School Cafeteria. Representatives from the Nassau Library System and the Town of Oyster Bay as well as present trustees from neighboring libraries will be available to discuss the responsibilities of library trustees to answer questions.

A slate of candidates to fill the board of nine library trustees will be presented to the community voters on Dec. 4, as part of the referendum to obtain library services for the "unserved" areas of the North Shore School District (all of the North Shore School District with the exception of the Village of Sea Cliff.) Also on the ballot will be a proposition to create the library district and approval of a first-year budget. This action is necessary as a result of a change in New York law which prohibits the sale of library memberships and expiration of the "state-mandated access cards'" on Dec. 31, 2002.

For further information, please contact the committee at: P.O. Box 841, Glenwood Landing, NY 11547 or email: NSPLD@optionline.net or call 759-7940.
