The Glen Cove Cardinals baseball team has extended their winning streak to 22 consecutive victories in the Nassau County Babe Ruth League they're playing in this summer. This past week, the team went 4 and 0 the first game of a twi-night double header against Levittown, which saw Tim Barnett notch his second win of the season winning a 9-4 decision and striking out 12 batters. Hitting star for the game went to Eric Soszka who went 3 for 3. In the nightcap, Bru Testa won his third game of the season, striking out ten, pitching a two-hitter for a 12-1 victory. Hitting stars were Anthony Mateo and Danny Rivera who each went 2 for 4. The third game against Oceanside was a 9-4 win as Tim Barnett got the win for his third of the season. Hitting stars were Chris Oglesby, 2 for 4 and Bruce Testa, 2 for 2. The fourth game was against Plainview which had an impressive record of 15 wins, 6 losses. The Cardinals had their ace on the mound, Mark Czerniawski, who was looking for his seventh win of the season. This one did not come easily. The Cardinals took an early three-run lead in the top of the first but Plainview came right back in the bottom of the first with 2 runs. As the game progressed, the Cardinals went ahead 4-2 but in the bottom of the third, Plainview came up with 4 runs to take a 6-4 lead. They held that lead until the top of the fifth when the Cardinals came up with 2 runs to tie the score at 6. The Cardinals held Plainview scoreless for the rest of the game and exploded for 5 runs in the top of the seventh to secure the victory. Manager Bruce Testa said, "The guys responded the way a 21-0 team should. They never gave up, consistently giving encouragement to each other when they were down late in the game."

The Cardinals are also 2-0 representing Glen Cove in the 14 and Under division in the Glen Cove Mayor's Trophy tournament.

Glen Cove Red 10, Long Beach 5: Eric Caruso led the offense with three hits and Jesus Gabby Lebron had a triple with the bases loaded. Gil Lebron, (three innings, four runs), and Dennis Grabowski, (four innings, one run), hurled an excellent game. Kevin Maccarone, shortstop, an Lebron, catcher, anchored the defense. The team is now 2-0 in the tournament.

Glen Cove Red 12, HBQVB 9: Alexa DeMartino and Theresa Lucarelli combined for 10 strikeouts in six innings. The hitting stars were Kim Kessel, Samantha Catanzano, Carolena Brasiello and Devon Testa who combined for 6 hits, five RBIs.

Glen Cove Red 12, Sea Cliff 4: Kristen Cornelis homered as Christine Antonietti, Sara Graziosi, Kessel, Lucarelli and Catanzano were also hitting stars in the team's victory. Lucarelli and DeMartino combined for 10 strikeouts.

Glen Cove Red 31, Bayville 19: The team was on a hitting rampage as Sara Graziosi hit for the cycle, (two singles, double, triple and homerun); Kim Basile, Cornelis, DeMartino, Brasiello had three hits each; Antonietti, Salia Calinda, Catanzano, Testa had two hits and Lucarelli had a key base hit. DeMartino, Lucarelli and Cornelis also exhibited excellent pitching.
