I am writing to vent about the complete lack of respect Friday and Saturday night party goers have for residents along Shore Road. While it is true that this particular road is home to the Steamboat Landing, an obviously popular weekend hangout, it also happens to be a residential area. Unfortunately, this fact seems to fall on deaf ears when it comes to the Steamboat's patrons.

Every weekend, we, the residents of Shore Road, are subjected to honking horns, loud radios, screaming, and motorists that apparently view our street as a drag strip. The racing up and down the road itself is amazing considering the amount of parking spaces the restaurant's guests require. How anyone has not been hit yet is a mystery. Worse yet, this activity only intensifies into the night, I am writing this at 1:30 am! Ladies and gentlemen (and with some of your mouths this might be pushing it) people live on Shore Road, respect that! Not all of us are night owls. As for the parking up and down Shore Road, please try to use the designated parking that the restaurant provides. It is unfair to us and our guests when there are no parking spaces available.

For those who may be thinking, "If it's so bad, why not complain to the police department?" This has been done numerous times, with less than satisfactory results. In fact, in some cases I have been met with ruder comments from members of the Glen Cove Police Department, than from those of the restaurant goers themselves. Think about how your behavior might be affecting your neighbors. How would you feel if you had to listen to squealing tires, radios, and drunken screaming when you, or younger family members are trying to sleep. Think about how you'd feel picking up beer bottles, cups and other trash on your lawn in the morning. Show us the same respect you would expect to be shown to you. Thank you.
