On Sept. 15, a piano concert will be held at St. Paul's Church, Glen Cove. Obviously, without a suitable instrument, the concert was dead-in-the-woods.
The Long Island Piano Exchange came to the rescue. As he has done time and time and time again, Rick Smith has come to bat for a worthy cause in the City of Glen Cove. So many times people like Mr. Smith have come forth giving help to this community. Of course we know these generous people do not have to extend this community service.
This special benefit is for St. Paul's Music School, which offers to children of all ages (kids to seniors) the opportunity to learn and play a musical instrument with absolutely no race, creed or ability to pay discrimination. the rules are simple: willingness to learn, disciplined practice, and a love of music.
Today the school is a functioning enterprise, but it sorely needs money for scholarships and other vital necessities. We pray the community will respond by attending the concert.
Thank God the need for a piano is out-of-the-woods and we - the "Help us Help the Children" Committee - want to publicly thank Rick Smith and the Long Island Piano Exchange for this gracious giving. It will long be remembered.
