Sabina B. Goddard (nee Bartley), formerly of Glen Cove, passed away on April 9, 2001 at age 84. Wife of the late Lt. Paul R. Goddard, US Navy, WW II, formerly of Oyster Bay. Paul passed away in 1975. Mother of Richard (Patricia), Bert and Mark. Grandmother of six. Great-grandmother of three. Daughter of the late Joseph and Lillian Bartley of Glen Cove. Also deceased eight sisters and two brothers. She is survived by two sisters-in-law Frances Bartley of Glen Head and Ruthie Goddard Daering of Oyster Bay. Also survived by sister (twins) Sara Jane (Ossi) Komulanien of Bay Shore and Geraldine (James) Gallagher of Brentwood and her sister (triplet) Cecelia (Stephen Peng) Ludlam of Glen Cove. Sabina leaves many nieces and nephews. She enjoyed reading and studying history and liked to keep in touch with her family and her friends, Edna Safiled and Frances Tast (Molloy) of Glen Cove. Sabina belonged to Ladies Auxiliary Post #347 VFW of Glen Cove. She lived in College Park, MD. Services and interment at Brentwood, MD.

Lauritz W. Weng, of Rego Park, born and raised in Glen Cove, died on May 14, 2001, at age 62. Father of Michael, Craig, Jennifer and Alex. Son of Walter A. and the late Eloise. Brother of Peter, Sharon, Charles, Jan and the late Terrance. Grandfather of Dorian and Julia. Arrangements were made by the Dodge-Thomas Funeral Home, Glen Cove. Service conducted at St. Paul's Church. Interment St. Paul's Churchyard. Donations may be made to the United Negro College Fund.

Chester W. Grochola, formerly of Brookville, died on May 14, 2001. Husband of Marjorie (nee Stoothoff). Father of Jean E. Sterner (Rudolf) and William J. Grochola (Rebecca). Grandfather of Monika and Michael Sterner and Jennifer and James Grochola. Also survived by sister-in-law E. Elizabeth Miller. Arrangements were made by the Whitting Funeral Home, Glen Head. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Paul the Apostle RC Church. Interment Holy Rood Cemetery.

Marie Jennings Yerry, of Locust Valley, died on May 15, 2001, in her 94th year at her home, surrounded by loving family members and friends. A devoted educator, she was assistant superintendent of schools and innovative principal of John H. West Elementary School in the Plainedge School District, retiring in 1969. She was a former art teacher in the Locust Valley School District between 1948 and 1955. Wife of the late Marshall Hughes Yerry and sister of the late Alma J. Boris. Mother of Hugh Yerry (Linda), James Yerry (Judy) and the late Mavourneed O'Connell (Jim) and Mary Lou Gibson (Paul). Grandmother of James M. Yerry, David Yerry, the late Peter Yerry and Heather Yerry, Christopher Yerry, Lynda Hickey, Maureen Hoar, James J. Yerry, Beth Higgins, Mary Anne Marks, James P. O'Connell, Erin O'Connell, Kerin O'Connell, Daniel O'Connor, Alysia Manerowski, Karyn Manerowski, Michael Manerowski and 19 great-grandchildren. Arrangements were made by the Whitting Funeral Home, Glen Head. Funeral Mass at St. Gertrude's RC Church. Interment Locust Valley Cemetery. Vivian P. Kutner, of Glen Cove, died on May 16, 2001. Wife of 59 years of Martin. Mother of Michele, Robbie and his wife Debbie. Grandmother of Deborah, Christopher, Michael and Elizabeth. Arrangements were made by the McLaughlin Kramer Megiel Funeral Home, Glen Cove Cemetery. Funeral Mass celebrated at St. Patrick's Church. Entombment Pinelawn Memorial Park. Donations can be made in her name to Hospice Care.

Mary Baraban, of Glen Head, died on May 16, 2001. Mother of Irene Festa. Sister of Helen. Grandmother of seven. Maria L. Navas, 61, of Glen Cove, died on May 16, 2001. Mother of Juan, Angel, Marilyn Hunnicutt, Fernando and Jennifer Rivera. Sister of Miriam Figueroa, Virginia Feliciano, Myrna, Juan and Lourdes. Grandmother of 10. Arrangements were made by the Dodge-Thomas Funeral Home, Glen Cove. Fr. Costa officiated the Mass held at St. Patrick's Church. Burial East Hillside Cemetery.

August E. Schneider, 79, of Brookville, died on May 17, 2001. Husband of Anne N. Father of Helen Lee Maser, Thomas S. Hill, Jeffrey G., Douglas J. and Ingrid E. Grandfather of eight. Arrangements were made by the Dodge-Thomas Funeral Home, Glen Cove. Memorial service conducted at the Brookville Reformed Church. Donations may be made to the Brookville Reformed Church.

Raymond A. LaForge, of Sea Cliff, died on May 18, 2001. Ray was a devout Roman Catholic who practiced spirit in every aspect of his daily life. He had a deep love of nature and found joy in its richness both at his camp in Maine and his yard in Sea Cliff. Ray was a committed government worker who took pride in his work. He was a loving husband and was loved by his many cousins, nieces and nephews. Husband of the late Helen (nee Krumenacker). He is survived by many loving relatives, neighbors and friends. Arrangements were made by the Whitting Funeral Home, Glen Head. Funeral Mass at St. Boniface Martyr Church. Interment Holy Rood Cemetery. Ray will be missed by those whose lives he touched.

Jean Bowers, 88, of Glen Cove, died on May 19, 2001. Mother of Myrna Duck. Grandmother of Jane, Karen and the late Gordon. Great-grandmother of Gordon, Jane, George and Anthony. Rose F. O'Neill, of Glen Head, died on May 19, 2001. Wife of the late Vincent. Mother of Vincent J. O'Neill and Maria Schnaper. Mother-in-law of William Schnaper. Grandmother of Michael, Owen and Adrienne Schnaper. Sister of Fannie Dioguardi. Arrangements were made by the Whitting Funeral Home, Glen Head. Funeral Mass at St. Mary's RC Church. Interment St. Patrick's Cemetery.

Terry Amaro, of Locust Valley, died on May 21, 2001, after a nine-month battle with cancer. She faced her illness courageously. She was the owner of Tamar Hairstylist and co-owner of The Casual Nook, both of Locust Valley. Daughter of the late Santo and Concetta Amaro. Sister of Rose Macarrone. Sister and best friend of Julie Albin. Aunt of Linda German and Kathy Carney. Aunt and second mother to Christopher Albin. The family will receive friends at the McLaughlin Kramer Megiel Funeral Home, 220 Glen St., Glen Cove, Thursday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Mass Friday at St. Patrick's Church at 11:15 a.m. Donations in her memory may be made to North Shore University Hospital at Glen Cove, Hospice Unit.
