John Bellock homered and doubled as Drew Swenson doubles twice in the Anker's Electric Bees 19-10 loss to The Basile Limousine Raptors ...The Lightning Auto Cobras remained undefeated at 5-0 as they beat the Ateco Sea Dogs, 15-9. Jabbar Morales homered and Taheem Vasquez played a great shortstop including an assist from the outfield for the Cobras ...Joe Pezza, Ryan Hopke, Jim Giambrone, John Quigley, Nick Bombardieri, Brent Harrison and Steve Latos were the hitting stars for the Giambrone Sandgnats as they beat the Waste Management Mudcats, 20-7 ... Jon Wagner (3 for 4) homered with three RBIs as the Fairview Storm beat the Raptors, 13-10. Ben Cox was 4 for 4 with a RBI and three runs scored. Chris Dobb was 3 for 3 (two runs scored) and Alex Ham was 2 for 3 with two RBIs for the Storm. Justin Starrantino made an unassisted triple play in the fifth for the Raptors. C.J. Kessler hit a two-run homer and Bobby McDonald added another round-tripper for the Raptors in a losing cause ... Owen Valance homered twice in the Gold Coast Gazette Lookouts 15-3 win over the Sea Dogs. Eric Telese and Paul Ferrante hit well as Valance, James Milano and Ben Stone played solid defense ... Michael Santiago had two RBIs as Christopher Theodorou homered for the Lookouts in the team's 22-10 victory over the Zavaro Landscaping Rockhounds. Kevin Nicholas made an unassisted double play from second base to win the game ... Ryan Hopke played stellar defense at first base for the Sandgnats in their 13-12 win over the Atlas Rattlers. Costa Fakatselis, Andrew Trakakis and Joseph Fabian had three hits apiece in the Atlas Rattlers' losing cause ... John Bellock homered twice and doubled twice as Denis O'Regan had three hits, including a double, in the Storm's loss to the Bees in an exciting extra-inning game.
Steven Nassani homered twice as Patrick Slaughnessy drove in the tying run and scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh as the Charles Pirates edged out the McCarthy Deli's Angels, 13-12 ... The Pirates beat the Konica Devil Rays, 18-15 as Robert Garcia hit a grandslam; Connor Conway had three hits and Kenny Catanzano added two hits. The Pirates' five-run fifth was enough to give their hurler Pantro Reyes the win ... Manuel Aguilar had three hits with an RBI and Kyle Hansen struck out nine in three innings but the Angels lost 11-4 ... Michael Abbondandolo hit a homer and was 2 for 3 in the General Rangers' 13-9 loss to the Pro Tech A's. Michael Mackney also hit a three-run homer and Ryan O'Connor had a sack RBI in the seventh for the Rangers ... The Deveau Rockies beat the A's, 15-8 as Brendan Rocco doubled twice and Thomas Marra added two singles. Frank Gaudio made two sparkling plays to end the game in the bottom of the seventh ... Thomas Anzalone fanned eight in three scoreless innings and Eddie Sangren had a grandslam round-tripper in the Rotary Braves 15-6 win over the Rangers. Brian Pascucci fanned six batters in three innings. Terry Jackson was 4 for 4 with a grand slam homer and Mike Abbondandolo added a triple for the Rangers ... Bobby Magnuson struck out eight in three innings in the Braves' 7-5 win over the Gold Coast Automotive Marlins. Thomas Anzalone homered and tripled for the Braves. The Braves remain undefeated this season ...
Gilberto Colon had a two-run double but the Glen Cove Chamber of Commerce Pirates lost to the Warga P & H Mariners, 5-2. Dennis Grabowski pitched two perfect innings for the Pirates ... Frank Monaco was 2 for 3 with an RBI in the St. Environmental Marlins 5-2 win over the Pirates ... Sherman McClain had the game-winning RBI as the Pirates beat the Cove Ice Dodgers, 6-5. Andrew Beglin, Dennis Grabowski and Gilberto Colon hurled a strong game for the Pirates win ... The Marlins beat the Fire Dept. Phillies, 11-5, on homers by Vincent Graziose, Nicholas Martino and Denis Gembs. Gembs also hurled three no-hit innings in relief and Joe Douso played five innings in centerfield for the Marlins. Douso has only committed one error defensively in the team's five games ... Roberto Lyons scored all of the Warge P & H Mariners' runs in its 3-2 squeaker win over the Maccarone Indians. Kevin Pallacios and Lyons combined for a six-hitter. Mariners' leftfielder Eddie Calderon made a fantastic catch in the second inning ... Andrew Beglin was 2 for 3 and Gilberto Colon slammed a three run triple, but the Pirates fell to the Indians, 13-8.
The Glen Cove PBA Cubs had a busy week playing four games, winning all four. In their first game, the Cubs beat the Glen Cove Auto Salvage Marlins, 11-3. Mark Czerniawski had three hits and three RBIs. Darren Pittman blasted a homer over the Green Monster and later tripled to rightfield as Miles Landron pitched three innings in relief and got the save. The Cubs' next opponents were the Atlantic Tree Spraying A's as the Cubs won 13-1 with Tim Brady fanning eight in five innings in picking up his second season win. The Cubs beat the Sons of Italy Cardinals, 6-4, as Landron held the formidable hitting Cardinals at bay. The Cubs' final game of the week had them eke out a 13-12 win over the Telstar Yankees. Czerniawski made a spectacular running catch in centerfield with two outs and the bases loaded. The game ended when Jose Lebron made a perfect throw to Pittman at the plate as Pittman blocked the plate and tagged out the potential tying run ... Bruce Testa (2 for 3, HR and four RBIs) John Maccarone (2-for-3, 2 RBI) and Anthony Mateo (2-for-4, 2 doubles, 3 RBI) were the hitting stars in the Sons of Italy Cardinals' 12-2 win over the Elks Lodge Mets. Brian Martone scattered seven hits for his second win of the season. Testa's homer cleared the green Monster in the first inning ... Anthony Bellock secured his first win of the season as the Cardinals beat the Hawkins Cove Oil Diamondbacks, 10-1. Bellock tossed a four-hitter and Cedric Steed has his first save as the closer ... The State Farm Insurance Braves also had a successful week, winning a doubleheader against the Mets, 11-10, in the first game and 16-3, in the second game. In the first game, with two outs on a two-strike count in the final inning, Brian Monahan scored on a suicide squeeze by Mike Maher. In the second game, Charile Giardina started a 10 run rally with a hit up the gap as the Braves had 18 hits.
Julie Bruschini had three hits while Carly Baran and Erin McCabe had two hits apiece in the Sorenson Lumber Storm's game against the Granger Rockhounds.
Melissa Schearer hit two doubles and Corey Heyman had four hits, but the Air Campus Pirates lost to the Black Hawk Rangers, 8-4 ... Emily Leahy struck out three batters as the Black Hawk Rangers played to a 14-14 tie vs. The Paolillo Braves. Christa Pascucci and Marcella Maruca were the hitting stars for the Braves ... On the following day, the Braves defeated the Rangers, 20-5, as Kelsey Valance and Natasha Pojvic were the hitting stars for the Braves ... Alexa Guarina, Shantel Chandler, Casey Lynch, Erica Miller and Nicole Guarino were the batting stars for the Rangers in its 20-9 win over the Old Brookville PT Orioles ... The Telstar Diamondbacks beat the Brookville Orioles, 20-4. Lauren Capobianco had a key hit with four runs scored. Charlotte Arieu had two hits and three RBIs. Meghan Romano had three hits. Danielle Fabian played great defensively in the outfield as Jenna Moglia fanned eight batters in three innings for the Diamondbacks ... Alyssa Cuyjet and Arielle Geller were hitting stars in the Braves 13-12 squeaker over the Pirates. Christine Antoniotti hit a two-run homer as Noelle Zrakakis and Corey Heyman had three hits apiece for the Pirates.
The Blacarski Blue Jays beat the ADM Devil Rays, 15-13, as Jessica Peet, Danisha Diaz, Erin Merkel and Samantha Gailus were the hitting stars for the Blue Jays. Mariel Fredricksen was 3 for 3 with three RBIs as Elizabeth Krummenacker was 3 for 4 with a double and two singles for the Devil Rays ... The Mayfair A's came back from 8-0 and 12-2 deficits to beat the ProTech Angels, 15-14. Bianca Pisano's one-out grand slam homer in the bottom of the sixth put the A's ahead to stay, 15-13. Pisano also added a three-run homer. Mikaela Olson made a two-out bases loaded catch in rightfield to rob a grand slam homer from the Angels. Laura Brady, Salia Calinda and Rebecca Aguilera were the hitting stars for the Angels. Calinda also pitched four solid innings for the Angels ... Tiffany McCauley had four hits while Nina Jimenez was 3 for 3 with two walks in the A's 21-14 win over the Blue Jays. Daniele Conklin pitched four shutout innings, striking out seven, to keep the A's in the game ... Alisha Rodriguez had five RBIs including a grand slam round-tripper and a single in the Graziosi Bros. Orioles' 22-5 victory over the Blue Jays. Danielle Tremamunno struck out four in four innings and singled, doubled for three RBIs ... Kim Kessel had three hits and struck out six batters in the Blue Jays' 28-22 win. Heidi Sloane was 3 for 4 and Kerri Martin was 2 for 2 for the Devil Rays, Katie O'Rourke stole two bases as Alexa DeMartino hurled three innings with two strikeouts for the Devil Rays.
The Pall Corp. Dodgers played to an 11-11 tie against the K of C Mets with three hits Aja Alter. The Dodgers beat the Mets, 14-13, in their second game on great defense by Devin Shepard and timely base running by Kelly Basile ... The Dodgers remain undefeated at 3-0 after their 22-10 win over the Testa Orioles. Sam Renison, Natitia Ubero, Sasha Berg, Stefanie Folan and Ingrid Sanchez had timely its and Courtney McCord had two putouts at home for the Dodgers ... The Mets won their first game of the season, defeating the Orioles, 15-8. Amanda Mariana hit a clutch two-run triple and Alexandra Beglin played flawless defense as shortstop for the Mets ... The Dodgers' undefeated streak continued as they beat the London Jewelers Marlins, 15-1. Courtney McCord was 2 for 3 with a triple and a single and stole home twice. Stefanie Folan was 3 for 4 and Aja Alter, on the mount, only allowed one run in the game.
