Playing back-to-back games last Sunday, the boys third and fourth grade lacrosse team, (Bert's Bald Eagles) and the boys' fifth and sixth grade lacrosse team, (Condo's Condors), won their games in convincing fashion. The Bald Eagles fell behind early to Franklin Square 2-0, but Derrick Fagiola would win the next three face-offs and score on each. Eric Tripp and Tyler Ravener would sandwich another Fagiola goal and before we knew it, the Bald Eagles were flying high with a 6-2 lead.

Attackmen Chris Borer, James Hall, Austin Bresky and Derrick Maruca kept Franklin Square moving with slick passing to midfielders Rafael Montes, Alexander Goldson, Brian Hehn, Danny Mahoney and Michael Mienko. After a Franklin Square goal, Kevin Donovan scored the Bald Eagles' final goal making the winning margin 8-4. Another excellent game was turned in by the defensive unit of Brendan Huggins, (12 saves), Evan Owen, George Weck, Nick Moffit, Michael Doxey, Adam Ramanda and Dougie Tripp, (3 saves).

Condo's Condors took the field for the second part of the doubleheader against Hicksville. Vinnie Graziosi would put the Condors out to a quick 2-0 lead and the Condors would never let Hicksville in the game.

As goalie Mike McCrindle would stop a shot and clear the ball up the field the attack of Graziosi, (3 goals), Ariel Bresky, (1 goal), Patrick Cunningham and Peter Micheleas would put the pressure right back on Hicksville. The Glen Cove middies dominated Hicksville as Alex DiScala and Joey Maruca each netted goals. The defense were the stars of the day. McCrindle had 8 saves and Jamie Klimaszewski, Michael Godfrey, Jordan Lightbourn and Richie McGrady preserved the shutout.

On April 1, the Glen Cove Junior Lacrosse girls faced a strong East Meadow team. First time goalie Nicole Chiarella saved 5 shots on goal in the first half. The second half, Christi Capobianco stepped into the net and made 8 saves. The final score was 7-0, a win for East Meadow.

Our second game was the home opener against a Bethpage team on April 8. Christi played the entire game in goal and made 8 saves. Scoring for the girls were Alexandra Sydor, (4), Jamie Adamo and Kelly Cunningham with one goal. The clock ran down and the game ended with a loss, 9-6. The girls went on the road to Port Washington on April 21. Our numbers were short that week. The two teams decided to split up and play a great practice game. This past Sunday was our second home game against a competitive North Shore team. The clock was against the girls again and they lost.

Christi Capobianco has found a home in goal. She fought off the hard shots from the North Shore girls. Christi made 12 saves and successfully cleared the ball to her teammates seven times. Scoring for the girls were Kelly Cunningham, (3), Alexandra Sydor, (2), Aileen Sloane and Jamie Adamo with one. Strong attack play by Samantha Simon and our rookies Christina Zanini, Molly Hutches and Samantha Basile. Our defense brings back the veterans Brenda Weck, Erica Lottes, Nicole Shearer, Barbarita Guevara, Corey Heyman, Robin Godfrey and rookies Jennifer Evans and Sara Graziosi.

Our next game is home at the middle school field on Sunday, May 6 at 1 p.m. Come on down and support Junior Lacrosse.
