David Quient, formerly of Glen Cove, died on Jan. 27 in Delray Beach, Florida. He was a former city attorney for Glen Cove. He is survived by his wife, Lillian and children Marion (Larry), and Andrew and two grandsons. A memorial service is planned in Glen Cove, with the date and place to be announced.

Mary Hoffman (Carnesi), 84, died on Jan. 24, 2001. Wife of Charles E. and the late Charles J. Carnesi. Mother of Charles Carnesi (Maryanne), Robert Carnesi (Kathy) and stepmother of Charles E. Madeline Webber Basse, daughter of the late Arthur and Betty Rieger of Glen Head, died on Jan. 25, 2001. She was an ESL teacher in Westbury and adult education teacher in the Great Neck and Roslyn School Districts. She was a member of the Musceta Cove Yacht Club. Mother of Eric and Scott Webber.
