George H. Hotz passed away on Dec. 21, 2000, in his home following a long illness. He is survived by his wife Barbara (nee Smith); four children, Grey (Dayna) of LI, Kathy (Nicky), James (Laura) and Suzanne (Troy) of Virginia; and 10 grandchildren. He was a resident of Glen Head for 44 years. He was a lifetime member of Glenwood Landing H & L Engine Co. and served as chief for two years. He was past president of the North Shore Fire Council. He was employed by the North Shore School District for 25 years. He was living in Rhodesville, VA, and was a member of Hope First Church of God.

Carl L. Maurer, of Glen Cove, died on Dec. 30, 2000. Carl was active in the Wartburg Lutheran Home, Brooklyn, Lutheran High School, Brookville and the Mill Neck Manor School for the Deaf. Michael J. DiLeo, of Glen Cove, died on Jan. 3, 2001. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post #9619 and 347 and a member of K of C, James Norton Council #1828. He served in the Fifth Armored Division during WWII including five campaigns and retired from the World Weather Service (NOAA) after 30 years. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War.
