Planning Board Approves Gateway Plaza
On Nov. 21, the Glen Cove Planning Board unanimously approved Gateway Plaza, a mixed use, (commercial/residential), project slated for the former Eisenstadt's and OTB sites. The project, submitted by Glen Cove Partners, espouses two concepts in development; middle market rental housing and the reuse of previously developed property. The middle market rental idea was conceived for "smart growth" to fit in locations with mixed use projects in downtown areas, to address the shortage of middle level housing and the "brain drain" of college graduates leaving Long Island to live elsewhere.

Pony White Triumphant in AFC West Super Bowl
On Nov. 26 and on a rain and windswept field in Copiague, the Glen Cove Cardinals Pony White team earned the Super Bowl trophy in an exciting 24-13 victory. A true team effort was the hallmark of the team's triumph. Trailing 6-0 in the first half, Roberto Lyons took matters into his own hands and scored on a 30-yard run to tie the game at 6. With the teams exchanging possession repeatedly, it was Lyons again on a 40-yard run that gave Glen Cove the lead at half time, 12-6.

Big Red Football Senior All-Stars!
As another outstanding Glen Cove High School Football season came to an end, three Glen Cove seniors and one North Shore senior were selected to participate in the Nassau County Coaches Exceptional Senior Bowl on Thanksgiving morning at Hofstra Stadium.
