Dueling Opposition Parties for Sea Cliff?
The Village of Sea Cliff has a new political party - the New Village Party. According to New Village Party's Chairman, Dom Candido, Sea Cliff's "politics of stagnation" which have "failed to solve the actual problems facing [the Village] today," are the rationale for the formation of an opposition political party.

Glen Cove BOE Sets Date for Charter School Hearing
The Glen Cove Board of Education authorized a public hearing regarding the proposed Covello Charter School to be held on Nov. 6, 8 p.m. in the Finley Middle School auditorium. The hearing date was scheduled during the board's Oct. 23 meeting which the charter school's lead applicant, Vito DeSimone, attended. The proposed school will have in its curriculum the teaching of Italian, Latin and Greek along with the classics. The school will be run by the for-profit, publicly traded Edison Schools, Inc. Mr. DeSimone and members of the Association of Italian American Educators will be invited to the hearing.

Southern Hardware Invitational Golf Tournament - 2000
The Seventh Annual Southern Hardware Golf Classic took place this year, again back in Charleston, SC and was well represented by Long Island and Glen Cove golfers. The six-day event was held at Wild Dunes Golf Club on the Isle of Palms, just north of the main city of Charleston. Local golfers such as Joe Speranza returned to the tour after a three-year hiatus.
