Board of Education Discusses Team Trip
The school year began last week with the Glen Cove school district under the restrictions of austerity for the second time in four years. The board of education met in special session on Sept. 11 to discuss items to include on the agenda for their first general meeting on Monday, Sept. 18, at 8 p.m. in Finley Middle School.

North Shore Historical Museum Restores Plaque
As a gesture of good faith, the North Shore Historical Museum's Board of Directors received permission from the Mayfair to remove and restore the almost 100-year-old plaque from the future home of the museum. The Mayfair, (the owner of the old courthouse on Glen Street), has agreed in principle to donate the building to the North Shore Historical Museum which is in the process of meeting the transfer requirements.

Glen Cove Junior Football Kicks Off 2000 Season
The Peanut Cardinals opened the 2000 season at home against the Plainedge red team. The game was a defensive struggle for most of the first half. The Cards defense was held together by the tough play of Michael Toldo, Brent Harrison, Joshua Amaya, Luis Amaya, Rodney Jackson, Tony Palmieri, Billy Flahive, Matt Borer, Xavier Lindsey and Christian Klimaziewski.
