We could win all over the place but not at home, until now. What a great win for the Comanchees.
In the semifinals Glen Cove took on Bethpage. Richie Nelson picked up his first win of the tournament. In a 10-6 win Nelson pitched 4 2/3 inning striking out four, giving up six runs, six hits. In came Kevin McGuire, 2 1/3 inning Kevin shut them down the rest of the way, seven in a row with three K's to pick up the save. Drew Isaacson belted his third homer of the tournament along with a single and double, five RBIs. Kristopher Osborne had two hits, one RBI, six stolen bases. Paul Casale had one hit, two walks, one sac. and helped lead the way to the championship game.
On to the championship vs. pitching strong Hicksville. Danny Matuzak on the hill, picking up his third win of this tournament in a close 4 to 1 win. Danny pitched seven innings, striking out eight batters, giving up four hits, one run. Drew Isaacson was the hitting hero. With a bases loaded triple in the third inning to give Glen Cove a 3-1 lead. Paul Casale stole home in the bottom of the sixth inning for the Comanchees' final run.Timmy Robinson threw out a runner at third base in the fourth to stop their threat. Matuzak picked off a key runner at second base in the sixth inning to stop a ralley. Shortstop Frank Carrotta and second baseman Paul Casale shone all game making play after play. Richie Nelson added a key hit. The 15 and Under Comanchees consists of Danny Matuzak III, Richie Nelson, Dave Malinowski, Antonio Rodriguez, Drew Isaacson, Tom Monahan, Frank Carrotta, Jr., Timmy Robinson, Kevin McGuire, Kristopher Osborne, injured Robert Tartaro, injured Donnie Daniels, Paul Casale, Jr.
Coach Dominick Grosso has done an unbelievable job with the pitching staff this season. Without him I do not know where we would be. My hat's off to Dom (my main man).
Hats off to Hicksville. They did a great job. Our parents have waited for this one. Now it's ours.
