John P. Parry, 78, died on Aug. 21, 2000, in Vista, CA. For 50 years he was an electrical engineer and worked on the Apollo 11 project. In the '90s he worked for CalTrans until retiring this year due to illness. He was born in Mexico City on Jan. 13, 1922 to Juan and Francisca Cerescuela Paricio of Spain. When he was one year old his family moved to NYC. He earned a master's degreee in management at Brooklyn Polytechic. During WWII, he served in both the Pacific and European Theaters of War where he led one of the first US Army units to liberate prisoners interned at Auschwitz. He was a long term resident of Glen Cove until relocating in 1984.

Mr. Parry is survived by his wife, Joan Parry, of Vista; a sister, Pili Paricio of Teruel, Spain; and three children, Linda Paracio of Walnut Creek, CA, Glenn Parry of Rio Rancho, NM, and Neil Parry of Fairport, NY; as well as five grandsons.

Memorial services were held at Dor Hadash Synagogue in San Diego on Aug. 25.

Leah Sutter, 91, of Glen Cove, died on Aug. 22, 2000. Wife of the late John B. Mother of Sylvia Tierney (Dr. Thomas) and John G. (Eileen).
