At the Glen Cove City Council meeting on Tuesday, August 22, Mayor Thomas Suozzi and the City Council had the honor of appointing two new officers to the Glen Cove Police Department. Police Officer Peter DiMaggio and Police Officer David Leon were presented with their badges by Police Chief Timothy Edwards. The mayor expressed his expectation that the two new officers would do great things for Glen Cove, and be an asset to the force. Proud members of the Leon and DiMaggio families were in attendance to applaud Glen Cove's Finest newest additions.

Also at the City Council meeting, the members voted to give the city greater authorization in the siezure and removal of abandoned shopping carts from any public place within the city, and have them taken to a facility within the city for redemption or other disposition. This is being done in cooperation with the Beautification Commission and Litter Prevention Programs in Glen Cove. (See related story this issue.)
