St. Rocco's: A Feast for the Body, a Feast for the Soul
The Church of St. Rocco in Glen Cove celebrated its 26th Annual Renewal of the Feast of St. Rocco with a festival that ran from Tuesday, July 25 through Sunday, July 30. This annual event honors the patron saint of our church. St. Rocco's is the only Italian national parish in the Diocese of Rockville Centre.
The Mill Pond Project Seeks Volunteers
The Glen Cove Beautification Commission is soliciting an all out volunteer effort to assist the City of Glen Cove with the ongoing Mill Pond/Glen Cove Creek Constructed Wetlands Project on Saturday, Aug. 19 and Sunday, Aug. 20. The effort will begin at 8 a.m. Volunteers are needed to prune vegetation, clear debris, coordinate workers, and with general all around help. Not all work will be physical.
North Shore Tornadoes Win LI Waldbaum's Cup
The North Shore Soccer Club travel team for boys 17 years old won the 2000 Long Island Waldbaum's Cup tournament with several decisive wins over some top notch LI Clubs.
Gold Coast Renegades Have Winning Time
Coached by John Perrone, Bill Melillo, and Ed Jalbert, a team of 12-year-old boys from Glen Head, Glen Cove, Locust Valley, and Oyster Bay entered the nationally recognized tournament in Cooperstown, home of the Hall of Fame, the week of July 15-July 21. The team had a very successful trip winning six games, losing four and finishing 18th out of the 48 teams from around the country.
