Jazz in the Square 2000 BIDS Glen Cove Good-bye
Friday night, July 28, brought to a close the Jazz in the Square series of concerts in Village Square, downtown Glen Cove, for the Summer 2000 season. For the past three years, the Glen Cove Downtown BID (Business Improvement District), along with the sponsorship of The Metropolitan, WCWP 88.1-FM Brookville, the Gold Coast Gazette, Anton Community Newspapers (the parent company of the Glen Cove Record Pilot), and the individual sponsorship of A. Kay Silverstein of Glen Cove, has presented the concerts, with this season seeing the largest crowds, and farthest-reaching audience to date, enticing music lovers from such towns as Huntington, Farmingdale, and Hicksville.

Glen Cove Examines Charter Schools
City Hall's main room was opened Tuesday night, Aug. 1, for a meeting by a group being called Coalition to Oppose Charter Schools. The group was organized by Gloria Wagner of Glen Cove and attended by about 35 residents. The meeting had been posted in the local newspapers, and open to everyone interested in attending, whether with pro or con agendas.

Snapper Derby Set for September 10
Glen Cove Mayor Tom Suozzi announced that the annual Snapper Derby in Glen Cove will be held this year on Sunday, Sept. 10.

Glen Cove Men's Soccer News
A little known secret in Glen Cove, outside of the soccer community, is the success of the three men's soccer clubs. The three clubs - Glen Cove, Forest Park and Polonez - are affiliated with the Long Island Soccer League, which is made up of over 80 clubs from throughout Long Island and Queens.
