Mayor Thomas Suozzi has announced that the US Navy guided missile frigate, (FFG 2), John L. Hall will visit Glen Cove during the city's Waterfront Festival 2000, June 30 through July 2. The 445' Navy warship is probably the largest vessel ever to be in Hempstead Harbor. The home port for the John L. Hall is Pascagoula, Mississippi. The ship was built in 1981 and was commissioned in 1982.

The officers and crew members will participate throughout the festival including the John L. Hall's captain acting as one of the judge's for the Classic Car Show scheduled for July 2. The city is requesting for past Navy officers and crew members who served on frigates to come foward so that we can set up a proper shore party to receive our visitors.
