The Hypocrisy Watch is on a roll this week. I got my local paper; read about this amazing new organization, The Sea Cliff Taxpayers Association; called Joe Reilly up to congratulate him; and then went to baseball practice at Clifton Park (I belong to an over 30 men's team that occasionally uses the park). As per usual before even attempting to start practice we took up our shovels to clean up the abundance of dog feces we find each time. I'm not exaggerating either. This is a regular occurrence. While I'm doing my share to help with this cleaning up routine I'm mumbling to myself, "What's wrong with this picture? They can spend my tax money to try to stop the ferry but they can't enforce the pooper scooper law." The out and out hypocrisy of this situation is phenomenal.

What's amazing since starting this Hypocrisy Watch thing is the number of people who come up to me in the deli, at my business, or wherever, who stick their hands out and congratulate me for taking on the powers that be. "Keep up the good work Doc," they say. No one throws anything at me. People actually agree. So it really didn't surprise me when I read about the Taxpayers Association. I knew the sentiment was out there. Now everyone knows.

Everyone who has ever been burned by the "in crowd" at Village Hall - Everyone who agrees at all that their tax money shouldn't be spent on frivolous law suits or village mailings in support of a group of rabble rousers like the Alliance Against the Ferry; anyone who was as appalled as I that a politically oriented group such as AAF was allowed to use a public school building for a lynch mob type rally; or even if you just are neutral on the ferry but are tired of Mayor Moyne and her friends stepping on your toes; discouraging business in the village; or maybe like me you are simply sick of stepping in poop in the park - I encourage you to write letters to the Record-Pilot. It's amazingly cathartic; no one will bite you and besides, Joe Reilly and his Taxpayers Association are standing up for us and they deserve all of our support.
