Evolving School Budget 2000 Introduced
The Glen Cove Board of Education met on Feb. 28 in the Finley Middle School. Interim Superintendent Dr. Elliot Garfinkel introduced the proposed 2000-2001 school budget, a working document which can change many times until it is adopted. The assistant to the superintendent for business, Frank Fiumano, provided an overview and the dates of budget workshops as the budget's three major components are considered. The components and dates are Program and Instruction, (March 13); Personnel, (March 20); Non-instructional, (March 27). April 10 has been set aside should another workshop be necessary. The proposed budget will be adopted on April 17.

Big Red to Meet Green Dragons for County Crown
The Glen Cove High School Big Red varsity basketball team will be playing the Westbury Green Dragons today for the county championship bragging rights. The game is this evening, March 2, at 6:30 p.m. in Farmingdale High School. Be sure to get over there and cheer on the Big Red.

First Annual Mike DiCarlo Memorial Tournament
Tournament directors Kevin Monahan and Bruce Testa, in association with the City of Glen Cove Dept. of Parks and Recreation, are pleased to announce the first annual Mike DiCarlo Memorial Softball Tournament. It will be held from April 14 through April 16 at City Stadium in Glen Cove.
