The City of Glen Cove's Dept. of Parks and Recreation and Cove Lanes are once again teaming up to sponsor the Glen Cove Junior Bowling League on Saturday mornings beginning Jan. 22.
The program, open to boys and girls ages 7-12, will run for nine consecutive Saturdays beginning Jan. 22 and ending on March 18. Bowling will start at 9:30 a.m. with each child bowling three games, ending at approximately 11:30 a.m. Children will be placed on a team of four bowlers, grouped by age. Requests for friends or siblings to bowl together will be considered.
Cove Lanes, which is under new ownership and completely renovated including a computerized scoring system, is located on Hazel Street off Cedar Swamp Road in Glen Cove.
The registration fee of $60 per child includes: three games of bowling per week and shoe rental, as well as a pizza party and participation trophy at the last session. Should a junior bowler miss any league weeks, coupons will be issued for free bowling, good any time at Cove Lanes.
This exciting program will be supervised by experienced Recreation Dept. staff, who will assist the bowlers and offer instruction to beginners. Enrollment is limited to just 56 bowlers, so register today by calling the Dept. of Parks & Recreation at 676-3766 or by stopping by Room 305 in City Hall during business hours. Registration must be accompanied by payment in full; alternate arrangements can be made if necessary. This will avoid a mad rush at Cove Lanes' front desk each week.
So bring a friend or come alone to bowl, bowl, bowl ¬ a "striking" good time and indoor winter fun is guaranteed!
