Opinion

Incredibly there are some letter writers who have chosen to attack me personally because they don't agree with my opinion on the ferry in Glen Cove. Apparently some of the things I have said in my letters to the editor have struck a nerve. And by the way, I won't apologize for saying that Mayor Moyne and the village trustees have developed tunnel vision where this ferry is concerned because I believe that to be absolutely true. If the truth hurts, then so be it. This ferry in Glen Cove will be one of the means to a very positive end. It is another step to an improved waterfront that all of us will be able to enjoy.

The members of the Sea Cliff Waterfront and Environment Committee who wrote this week picking apart a parking lot plan should try to keep in mind that what is in that location now has been an eyesore and a potential health threat that none of us has benefited by. They should also be reminded that so far everything that Glen Cove and its mayor have done on the land around Glen Cove Creek has been good for the environment and we have no reason to believe the good judgment that has been shown will end with ferry. Their attempt to incite hysteria over light poles and vehicles is irresponsible at worst and picayune at best.
