James P. McKenna, of Sea Cliff, died on Dec. 8, 1999. Born in Glen Cove, he was a bricklayer and proprietor of James P. McKenna Brick Mason Contracting in Sea Cliff. A WWII Army veteran, he was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, the Elks and the Bricklayers Union. Husband of Margaret and the late Ann (nee Lynch). Father of Patrick (Geraldine), Peter (Jacquelyn), Gene (Doreen) and the late Patricia Lemerise (Dennis). Stepfather of the Aherns: Mike (Maureen), Margaret (Steve), Eileen (Vince) and Jim (Mary). Walter Hesskamp, of Glenwood Landing, died suddenly on Dec. 11, 1999 at age 91. Survived by his sister, Martha Hausser of Cleveland, OH. Predeceased by his wife, Edith. Also survived by seven nieces and nephews. Born in Akron, NY in 1908, he was the son of Rev. William Hesskamp, a minister of the Sea Cliff German Methodist Church and Louise Guterding Hesskamp. After serving in Europe in WWII, he worked for Con Edison in Westchester County until his retirement in 1949. He moved to Glenwood Landing in 1962 and worked for many years with Ake Turkel Cabinetmaker in Sea Cliff. An accomplished cabinetmaker and woodworker, he enjoyed making intricate wood furniture, miniatures and toys in his shop until his death. Private interment will be in Linden Hill Methodist Cemetery, Ridgewood.
