On Friday, Dec. 3, at noon, a 20 -30-year-old male stole approximately $101,000 in cash from the Sunrise Check Cashing place on Cedar Swamp Road in Glen Cove.
According to police reports, Al Boutin, the security check cashier employed by Sunrise had just arrived from their Merrick office at about noon, with the money and was walking from his car into the check cashing office. A man ran up from behind him, punched him several times and wrestled three shoe box sized boxes containing the money from Mr. Boutin's grip. The suspect ran away up First Street. Another employee saw the commotion from inside the office and chased the suspect up First Street before losing sight of him near St. Rocco's Church. Glen Cove Police arrived at that point and took over the search for the suspect. Nassau County Police Department Canine and Aviation units were called in to assist in the search. The suspect was not found.
The suspect is described as white or Hispanic, 5' 11" medium build, dark hair, clean-shaven, wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, light colored pants and white sneakers.

Sergeant Tom Fitzpatrick arrested a 44-year-old male on Glen Cove Avenue. Defendant was charged with harassment, second degree.
P.O. Jack McDougal arrested a 37-year-old male on Hill Street. Defendant was charged with grand larceny, fourth degree.
P.O. Suzanne Zoll arrested a 41-year-old male on Prospect Avenue and charged him with criminal contempt, third degree.
P.O. Birkenhead arrested a 21-year-old female on Forest Avenue and charged her with petit larceny.
P.O. Sal Taranto arrested a 48-year-old male on Landing Road and charged him with ability impaired by drugs.
