Last Saturday the North Shore Vikings played Jericho easily defeating them 28- 0. North Shore had a excellent all around game. Offensively, strong Chris Conti scored two touchdowns and ran 178 rushing yards. Also, Ben Blackburn had two touchdowns, including an interception in the last minutes of the game. North Shore's defense also dominated with seniors Chris Conti making 15 tackles, and Ben Blackburn making 10 tackles helping to shut out Jericho. North Shore is now (3-2), while Jericho is (0-5).
North Shore started quickly as Chris Conti ran in an 11-yard hand-off by quarterback Robert Rodriguez on a second down with 9:13 still left in the first quarter. North Shore's Jaime Blundell ran in another hand-off given from Robert Rodriguez to score the two point conversion giving North Shore the early lead, 8-0. The rest of the quarter was a tug of war between the two determined teams. However, it was not till the second quarter that it was obvious that North Shore wanted this game and would eventually win this tug of war with ease. Towards the end of the first half Chris Conti scored another touchdown from a hand-off given by Robert Rodriguez to run in a quick 6 yards. This time North Shore decided to go for the one point kick successfully completed by Joseph Pizczatowski, which made the score 15- 0.
The beginning of the second half was slow. Jericho lost it's opportunity to score in the third quarter. Going into the fourth quarter, North Shore pumped up its effort as if ready to put the nail in the coffin. At the start of the fourth Ben Blackburn struggled in a one-yard touchdown handed-off from Robert Rodriguez. Then Joseph Pizczatowski kicked another good one point kick to bring the score 22-0. With about 45 seconds left, Ben Blackburn startled fans making an interception and running in a 25-yard touchdown to finish out the game. Final score 28-0.
North Shore Vikings will play their next game home against Valley Stream South on Saturday October 23 at 2 p.m.
