The Glen Cove Comanches won their final five regular schedule games to finish on top with a 10-0 record in the Queens YMCA League. The team began its final push to the playoffs with a 4-1 victory over Richaven. T.J. Rodriguez went the distance, allowing no earned runs on two hits with eleven strikeouts. Drew Isaacson (single, double, two RBIs), Danny Matuzak (two hits) and Richie Nelson (two hits) provided the big hits on offense. Unfortunately, Kristopher Osborne broke a bone in his leg and would be lost to the team indefinitely.

Donnie Daniels tossed a 2-hit shutout with seven strikeouts in Glen Cove's next game, a 10-0 thrashing over RGMV He also had two hits and three RBI's to help himself at the plate. Paul Casale (two hits, two runs scored), Richie Nelson (single, triple, RBI) and Dan Matuzak (two hits) were the other big hitters for Glen Cove.

Another great combination of pitching and hitting enabled the Commanches to defeat Roachdale, 9-3. Kevin McGuire gave Glen Cove another complete game performance, allowing just three runs on three hits with seven strikeouts. He also had two hits of his own, as did teammate Paul Casale (one RBI) and Richie Nelson (triple, RBI). Frank Carrotta (four hits, double, three RBI's) and Donnie Daniels (three hits, four runs scored) also came up big at the plate.

Gianluca Carrabs (six innings, two hits, six strikeouts) and Danny Matuzak (one inning, two strikeouts) combined to pitch a 2-hit shutout over Sunnyside Youth Services, as the Comanches won their next game, 3-0. Robert Tartaro (key hit, RBI), Drew Isaacson (two hits, three stolen bases), Paul Casale (single, double) and Donnie Daniels (two doubles, two RBI's) provided the offense.

Glen Cove won its tenth straight game, along with home field advantage for the playoffs in a 7-0 win over HMP, which had a record of 8-1 going into the game. Richard Nelson allowed just two hits, while striking out eleven. He got plenty of offensive support from teammates Drew Isaacson (three RBI's, inside-the-park homer), Donnie Daniels (two hits), Kevin McGuire (key hit) and Paul Casale (key double, RBI). T.J. Rodriguez played a solid third base to help spark the defense.
