  • NEWS: Don't Forget to Vote May 18

    Tuesday, May 18, is the day voters in the Glen Cove, North Shore and Locust Valley school districts will have the opportunity to cast their ballot on their district's school budget. Voters will also have the opportunity to elect their choice for a seat, or seats, on their district's Board of Education and, in one instance, (North Shore), there is a transportation referendum. For residents in the Glen Cove School District, polls are open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.; residents of the North Shore school district will be voting in the high school gymnasium from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m.; For Locust Valley Central School District polls are open from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m.; Bayville Election District votes in the Bayville Intermediate School; Brookville/Locust Valley Election District votes in the Locust Valley High School.   • SPORTS: Glen Cove High School Sports

    Last week the Big Red baseball team started their stretch run for the playoffs in grand style. With the end of the season drawing near, the Big Red hardballers played two games against Hewlett High School. In the first game, the Big Red was led by Ryan Cornelis, who headed a 13-hit attack by going 4 for 4 with a homerun, 2 doubles and driving in 5 runs. Adelki Paulino, Jesse Barnes and Fabrizio Papasidero also drove in runs. Nine players had at least one hit for the day to help Glen Cove secure the win, 10-5. Pitcher Keith Hansen picked up his fourth win of the season. FULL STORY
