  • NEWS: Rev. Kishkovsky on Interfaith Team Securing POW Release

    Upon meeting the interfaith delegation of US religious leaders whose mission was to secure the release of three American POWs, the Yugoslav leader's face showed signs that he recognized one member of the group. Slobodan Milosevic's memory served him well. Rev. Leonid Kishkovsky, the pastor of Our Lady of Kazan Russian Orthodox Church in Sea Cliff, a member of the delegation led by Rev. Jesse Jackson and National Council of Churches General Secretary, Rev. Dr. Joan Brown Campbell, had spoken to him before. Milosevic had met Rev. Kishkovsky at least three times during the dissolving of Yugoslavia when the priest was a member of a smaller interfaith group. Last Sunday, following a three-hour meeting that culminated an arduous journey filled with bombings, an earthquake, but never without faith and hope, the three American soldiers taken as prisoners of war and held in Yugoslavia were released to Rev.
