  • NEWS: BOE Approves Budget and GCTA Contract

    The 1999-2000 school budget proposed by Glen Cove schools superintendent Frank DeLuca was approved by the board of education on April 19 during the board's regular meeting. The board voted 5-2 to approve the budget which will be offered to voters on May 18. The budget anticipates the district's receipt of $6.2 million in state aid and $2.5 million in other revenue.   • NEWS: Candidates Run for Two North Shore Board Seats

    Four candidates have thrown their hats into the ring to run for two seats on the North Shore Board of Education. The candidates, listed alphabetically, are Kathryn Grande, Michael Montesano, Peter Morra and Peter Munda. Candidates will be voted upon during the school district budget vote on Tuesday, May 18, from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. in the high school gym. FULL STORY

  • SPORTS: Glen Cove High School Sports

    Last Wednesday, the Big Red baseball team played their long-awaited home opener against Friends Academy. Trailing 4-2 in the fifth inning, Glen Cove exploded with four runs on their way to a 7-5 victory. The hitting attack was led by senior outfielder Jason Watson, who went 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs and Ryan Cornelis, who hit an RBI double in the four-run fifth inning. FULL STORY

  • SPORTS: Glen Cove Hall of Fame Monument Unveiled

    On April 18, the Glen Cove Hall of Fame brought to fruition a dream held by the late John "Johnny Mac" Maccarone. It was a dream to be able to honor the great athletes of Glen Cove. He didn't quite know how it was to be done, but he felt strongly that the athletes of the past and present should be recognized in such a way that they would become part of Glen Cove history.
