Douglas Garretson, 71, of Irmo, SC, formerly of Beechhurst, Sea Cliff and Providence Forge, VA, died Jan. 14, 1999. Funeral services were held at the Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, SC.

Mr. Garretson was the son of the late Harry Douglas Garretson and Anna Camille Von Hoegen Garretson. He retired after 30 years as a sales engineer for the Spencer Turbine Company of Hartford, CT. He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution NY Chapter where he served in the Continental Color Guard; a member of the Beechhurst and Sea Cliff Yacht Clubs; Cub Scout Master and Boy Scout Leader; a member of the Presbyterian Church of Providence Forge. Mr. Garretson also served in the Navy during WWII.

Surviving are his wife, Gesina Dorothy Murphy Garretson; son Harry Douglas Garretson and daughter Marily Dorothy Garretson Swygert of Irmo; three grandchildren, Phillip Garretson, Dorothy-Faye and Ted Michael Swygert Jr.

Memorials can be made to the Sea Cliff Ambulance and Rescue Squad of Sea Cliff.

Donato Grella, formerly of Glen Cove, died on March 10, 1999 in Italy. Husband of Clotilde. Hattie W. Oakes, 88, of Glen Cove, died on March 17, 1999. Wife of the late Joseph M. Mother of Joseph M. Jr. and the late Barbara Cannon. Grandmother of five. Great-grandmother of five.
