The Glen Cove High School Mock Trial Team is now one of the top two high school teams in the Nassau County competition run by the New York State Bar Association. This is the first time since 1985 that Glen Cove's team has been in the finals of this prestigious competition. Forty-six public and private high schools took part in this year's tournament. Glen Cove defeated three time county champion, Hebrew Academy of the Five Towns, in the semifinals in a very close contest by a score of 28 to 27. The question in this year's case is whether a young father is guilty of criminal neglect of his baby when he leaves the child in the care of his alcoholic wife. The team members who were the attorneys and witnesses in the semifinals were: Brooke Grossman, Kamila Lis, Craig Heeren, Jessica Brondo, Vedran Lekie, and Andrew Liebowitz. Hebrew Academy presented the prosecution case. The Honorable Edward McCarty, justice of the Supreme Court, County of Nassau, president in his courtroom, in the Supreme Court building in Mineola.

Glen Cove will not be the prosecution in the championship match. The prosecution attorneys and witnesses for the finals will be Christina Ingoglia, Brooke Grossman, Kim Ravener, Craig Heeren, Emma Worth, and Andrew Liebowitz. They will face the mock trial team from Roslyn High School, who will present the defense.

The finals will take place on Wednesday, April 14, at the Supreme Court in Mineola at four o'clock in the afternoon. The team members extend an invitation to interested Glen Cove residents to come and watch the trial.
