Following a Careful Analysis
The Swezey's Department store chain is ready to add to their family a 50,000 square foot store in Glen Cove. Along with a $5 million investment, Swezey's plans to bring 125 employment opportunities for community residents, anticipated annual sales of $4 million and an average payroll of $700,000 yearly. The decision to locate in Glen Cove was made by the Swezey family after conducting a 7-mile radius survey of Glen Cove which showed that Glen Cove was the best possible location, economically and demographically, for this, the first Swezey's in Nassau County. The hope is that Swezey's will be open for the 1999 holiday shopping season.

Dan Cavallo to Represent County in State Championships
Glen Cove High School's track team had four athletes compete on Friday, Feb. 12, in the Individual County Championships at SUNY Farmingdale. In order to qualify for this meet, each athlete had to be in the top 14 of all of Nassau County for their event. The "prize" was a chance to run in the State Championships.

North Shore High School sophomore Tami Barbour captured a bronze medal at the Nassau County Individual Gymnastics Championship held Tuesday night, Feb. 9, at North Shore High School.
