Nassau County Legislator John Canning sponsored a bill on Dec. 14, 1998 to construct a new seawall at Welwyn Preserve in Glen Cove. The bill was unanimously passed by the County Legislature. Canning had previously sponsored legislation for the design of the new seawall and now that the project can move forward he said, "I am glad that the exhaustive process of environmental review by the NY State DEC has been successfully completed.
