  • NEWS: Vietnam Vet Joseph Moores Honored

    This Veterans Day, decorated Vietnam War veteran Joseph Moores was honored by the City of Glen Cove in a moving ceremony. Surrounded by his wife, Maria, and three children, Anthony, Matthew and Christina, other family members, fellow veterans and friends, Joe was characterized by Mayor Thomas Suozzi as being one of so many ordinary men and women put into an extraordinary situation during times of war.   • NEWS: Glengariff Update

    The Glen Cove Planning Board will be meeting Tuesday, Nov. 17, 8 p.m. in City Hall. The meeting's agenda includes "a final resolution on the Glengariff Senior Manor proposed nursing home." In August, 1998, the planning board had given preliminary approval of the proposed facility following a 4-2 vote of the board members with one member not voting because he was appointed to the board late in the Glengariff planning board process.     The Glen Cove High School football team, "Big Red," has added another star to their stellar season by qualifying for the playoffs---the first time Big Red is going to the playoffs since 1984!     Coming back strong from the disappointing game against rival Cold Spring Harbor, the North Shore Vikings scored a tremendous win over Valley Stream North Spartans last Saturday beating them 47-14.
