    Six Glen Cove High School seniors earned recognition as Commended Students in the 1999 National Merit Scholarship Program. A Letter of Commendation from the school and the National Merit Scholarship Corporation will be presented by Principal Lane Schwartz to Craig Heeren, Christina Ingoglia, Richard Lee, Emma Lewis, Golnar Nikpour and Kimberly Ravener.   • SPORTS: Vikings Crumble Rocks 7-27

    North Shore Vikings bounced back from their discouraging loss to Malverne, where they lost 43-8, defeating East Rockaway 27-7 in their game last Saturday. However, the first quarter was East Rockaway's quarter and it looked like trouble for North Shore. Sophomore running back Bill Petry scored East Rockaway's only touchdown in the first quarter with running back Sal Corso making a good kick to start the score off at 7-0 East Rockaway. FULL STORY
