North Shore High School came back strong after last week's win, easily beating Island Trees 26-6. They made a total of 340 yards with four touch downs ranging from a 11 yard run to a 60 yard pass. North Shores defensive line had an excellent game. Rich Barret had 10 tackles along with an interception, and Joe Marvullo had 10 tackles as well.
North Shore got off to a quick start when Viking running back Joe Marvullo ran 19 yards to start the touchdown rally at the very beginning of the first quarter. Kicker Giovanni Guiga made the extra point kick starting the Vikings off with a 7-0 early lead. With five minutes left neither team was able to pull off a touchdown finishing up the first quarter.
At the end of the second quarter, Viking line backer Rich Barret intercepted an Island Trees pass thrown by Bulldog quarterback Anthony Pena on their third down. Starting a spectacular third quarter, running back Jon Peet of North Shore made a remarkable 50 yard run on a first down to score the second touch down for the Vikings. In addition to that Giovanni Guiga made his second good kick of the game making it 14-0.
Island Trees, in pursuit of a touch down finally got it from their quarterback Anthony Pena making a one yard run, however missing their kick making the score 14-6. Following the Island Trees touch down, North Shore came back with quarterback Mike Stanco making an extraordinary 60 yard pass to Andrew Galano who caught it and scored finishing up the third quarter at 20-6.
In the fourth quarter North Shore's varsity showed their domination when Viking Joe Marvullo made an 11 yard run making his second touchdown and bringing the score to 26-6. With 6:30 minutes left in the game, the Vikings finished with a skilled win over the Island Tree Bulldogs.
The VIkings will play their next varsity game against Jericho at 2 p.m. on Saturday October 10 at North Shore High School.
