Vernon L. Merrill, of Locust Valley, died on July 13, 1998 after a long battle with breast cancer. She was 72. Beloved wife of Robert G. Merrill. Mrs. Merrill is survived by six children, Lynn Gray of Locust Valley, Gail Merrill of New Canaan, CT, Edmund Merrill and Douglas Merrill both of Denver, CO, Signa Hermann of St. Louis, MO, and Nina Ogan of Denver. She is survived by eight grandchildren; a stepgrandchild; her sister Signa L. Mills; and her brother, Edmund C. Lynch Jr. Mrs. Merrill was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edmund C. Lynch. Mr. Lynch was the founder of Merrill Lynch & Co. Mrs. Merrill was an accomplished athlete; she excelled in tennis and croquet. Active in many educational endeavors, she served on the board of trustees of several schools and colleges. In addition, she was active in the North Country Garden Club and was the current president of the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory Associates. The burial is private. A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. on July 18 at St. Paul the Apostle Church, Cedar Swamp Rd., Brookville. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, PO Box 100, Cold Spring Harbor, NY 11724. Arrangements were made by the Dodge-Thomas Funeral Home, Glen Cove.

Janet Perlman Trause, of Century Village, FL formerly of Glen Cove, died on July 21, 1998. Wife of the late Daniel D. Mother of Paul of Glen Cove and Richard of Yardley, PA. Sister of Roberta Shames of Florida. Grandmother of Ryan, Danielle and Lindsay. Arrangements were made by the Dodge-Thomas Funeral Home, Glen Cove. Service and interment at Wellwood Cemetery. Donations can be made to the Women's American ORT, Hadassah or the American Cancer Society.

Antonio Anzalone, 61, of Glen Cove, died on July 21, 1998. Husband of Michelina. Father of Maria Stanco (Frank), Carmine and Nada. Grandfather of Lianna. He will remain in our hearts forever. Arrangements were made by the Dodge-Thomas Funeral Home, Glen Cove. Mass at St. Rocco's RC Church. Interment Holy Rood Cemetery.

Armand (Moe) Melchione, of Glen Cove, died on July 22, 1998 after a long illness. Husband of Adrienne. Father of Robert and Carol Ann Parsons. Grandfather of Raymond and Christopher. Brother of Clara, Nellie, Betty, Edie and Joseph. Arrangememts were made by the McLaughlin Kramer Megiel Funeral Home, Glen Cove. Funeral Mass at St. Patrick's Church. Interment Holy Rood Cemetery.
