  • NEWS: Glen Cove's Buoyant Americas' Sailabration

    The excitement in Glen Cove swelled on Friday, July 10, as the arrival of the Tall Ships in the Americas' Sail race became a reality. Many residents had spotted Argentina's 338-foot, three-masted full-rigged Libertad off Pryibil Beach that day. The Libertad could also be seen from the Morgan Park jetty and, as word spread that the Tall Ships were really in Glen Cove, the park bustled with residents trying to get a first glimpse. FULL STORY

  • NEWS: Glen Cove Welcomes the Tall Ships of Americas' Sail

    The stage at Morgan Park was the site for Glen Cove Mayor Thomas Suozzi's official welcome to the captains and crews of the Tall Ships in Americas' Sail '98 at Glen Cove. It was preceded by several musical numbers offered by the award-winning Glen Cove High School Jazz Ensemble and a delightful performance by students from the Glen Street Dance Studio. Dressed in white bellbottoms, red and white striped shirts, and sailor hats they performed a charming medley of dances with nautical themes, including Popeye and Gilligan's Island signature music.   • SPORTS: Glen Cove Flames Division Champs

    The Glen Cove Flames Boys U10 travel soccer team went undefeated this season and took first place in their division with a record of seven wins, three ties and no losses. Going into the last weekend of the spring season the Flames needed two victories to secure the championship. FULL STORY
