Dolores E. McGovern (nee Tozer), formerly of Glen Cove, died on April 4, 1998. She was predeceased by her husband Commander William McGovern. She is survived by two brothers, Vincent and Charles; one daughter and one son; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Bronislaw (Bruno) Krahl died on April 20 ,1998 after a long battle with cancer. He is the beloved husband and best friend of Joan and the late Henny; devoted father of Monika, Linda and Mary; dear father-in-law of Mark, Emil and José; and very proud "papa" of Ingrid, Henny, Lisa, Judd, Isaac, Christopher, Samantha and Catherine.
Bruno worked in construction and masonry for many years on LI's North Shore. He was retired from the incorporated Village of Garden City where he was a road supervisor. In his retirement, he loved his job as "greeter" in Walmart in Myrtle Beach, SC and Ashburn, VA.
A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Glen Cove on May 2 at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make charitable contributions in his memory to the Hospice of Northern Virginia, Falls Church, VA 22040 or to Hospice Care Network, 900 Merchants Concourse, Westbury, NY 11590.

Franz Schager, 88, of Locust Valley, died on April 25, 1998. Son of Dr. Albin Baron Schager von Eckartsau and Countess Julianne von Putti, born July 7, 1909 in Austria. He lived in Vienna until two months after the Anschluss. The Theresiansche Akademie had been his preparatory school, the former military academy founded by Empress Maria Theresa and from there he studied law at the University of Vienna and diplomatic schooling at the Konsularakademie where he received a doctorate at law. He had been active as officer in the Heimwehr, a military organization started by Prinz Starhemberg, oriented against the Socialists and later the Nazis. Before his departure from Austria he worked in the legal department of an Austrian Casualty Insurance Co. His father had been a member of the last cabinet in the Old Austrian Monarchy. With the help of the British ambassador, he spirited the Hapsburg family in 1918 after the revolution to Pragins, Switzerland and he served the Hapsburg cause as leader of the Monarchist Party. His endeavor was to have the Austrian Government cede some of the Hapsburg castles and grounds to the Hapsburg family. Most of his summers were spent hunting on the former hunting grounds of the Emperor Eckartsau, Reichenau and Muertzteg.
Franz Schager departed from Austria on a "business trip" to Paris and stayed in Lisbon, Portugal as a guest of the American Consul General and his wife. He came to the US, to Palm Beach, FL in 1939. While in this country he married Mary Waring Humphrey, daughter of US Colonel Chauncey Benton Humphrey and Florence Waring Dorrance. They lived in Syosset, later in Oyster Bay and they had three daughters. His business was in casualty claims with the Hartford and Allstate Insurance Co. After his wife's death he married Audrey Miller who died two years later of cancer. Since then he lived alone in Locust Valley, spending most of his time painting watercolors. He was also a master gardener with the Cooperative Extension Service, as he had been known as one of the first organic gardeners. He had renounced his title when he became an Americn citizen in 1943. He is survived by his daughters, Mary S. Waldron of Greenwich, CT, Francesca Anderson of Lexington, MA and the late Julianne Schager who died in 1968; and granddaughter Lili Anderson of Williamstown, MA.
Arrangements were made by the Dodge-Thomas Funeral Home, Glen Cove. Mass celebrated at St. Paul the Apostle RC Church. Interment private at Memorial Cemetery, Laurel Hollow. Donations can be made to the Humane Society of NY.
George Bandell, 85, died on April 26, 1998 at the Community Hospice of Albany at St. Peter's Hospital after a long illness. Mr. Bandell worked for the Bowery Savings Bank in Glen Cove as an assistant controller retiring in 1974. After his retirement, George and his family moved from Glen Cove where they resided for 27 years to Brick, NJ where he lived unitil the time of his death. Mr. Bandell was a member of the Elks Club and Kiwanis Club in Brick. Husband of the late Gertrude. Father of Richard Bandell of Atlanta, GA and Ralph Bandell of Slingerlands. Grandfather of Laura Bandell of Carrollton, TX and Claire, Ellen and Timothy Bandell all of Slingerlands. Arrangements were made by the Magin & Keegan Funeral Home, Albany. Following cremation remains will be interred in St. Michael's Cemetery, Queens.
Mariangela Moccia, of Catskill formerly of Glen Cove, died on April 26, 1998. Wife of the late Carmine. Mother of Louise Broccolo (Tony), Gertrude Finch (George), Rocco (Annette), Mario (Eleanor) and the late Jake Moccia.
