Ermina Todisco, of Glen Cove, died on Dec. 13, 1997. Wife of the late Giuseppe N. Mother of Stella Covino, Raffaela Aufiero, Josephine Stranieri, Lorenzo and the late Carmine Todisco. Richard A. Shortell

Richard A. "Shorty" Shortell, of Ridge, NY born in Glen Cove, died on Dec. 14, 1997. He was retired from the US Postal Service at the Glen Cove Post Office. Husband of Dorothy (nee Sullivan). Father of Timothy (Debra), Richard (Mary Ellen), Katherine and Patrick (Theresa). Grandfather of Rebecca, Victoria, Timothy, Brianna, Ryan and Serena. Brother of George, Nancy Spy, John and the late Joseph and James. Arrangements were made by the Whitting Funeral Home, Glen Head. Funeral Mass at St. Patrick's RC Church. Sybil Wagnell Baytes

Sybil Wagnell Baytes died peacefully in her home on Dec. 14, 1997. She was born in Glen Cove on Jan. 13, 1911 and was the daughter of Edith and Alfred Wagnell and wife of the late James Carlton Baytes. Sybil enjoyed during her life gardening, animals and singing with the Senior Notes. She also dearly loved her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter Sybil Yvonne Baytes; her son Jim Baytes; her grandchildren Jeff Baytes, Sybil Baytes, Mark McAllen, Roman McAllen, Michaelle McAllen; and her great-grandchild Jesus. She is also survived by her special friend Nancy Hogy who always cared greatly for her. Arrangements were made by the Dodge-Thomas Funeral Home, Glen Cove. Service with Rev. William Wendler officiating. Interment private. Contributions may be made to the Glen Cove Senior Center, 130 Glen St. or Carpenter Memorial Methodist Church.

Dorothy Fincher, of Glen Head, died on Dec. 16, 1997. Daughter of the late "Sally" Antoinette Puchalski. Niece of Joseph Snopkowski Sr. Cousin of Joseph Jr. and Kenny Snopkowski. Calvin Otis Smith

Calvin Otis Smith, Glenwood Landing, died on Dec. 18, 1997. Born in NYC, he was a supervisor of freight planning in the planning and develpment department of the Port Authority of NY and NJ. He retired in 1990. He was a Navy carrier pilot during WWII. Husband of Patricia F. Father of Margaret S. Larom, David M., Elizabeth C. and Mary W. Grandfather of Julia and Natalie Smith, Christopher and Daisy Larom. Stepfather of Glenn Pearsall. Brother of Nancy S. Olsen, Mary M. Smith, Margaret S. Davenport and the late Barbara S. Tyaler.
