Community Park Mini Golf Weekend

The Garden City Recreation Department is proud to present the Community Park Mini Golf Weekend Saturday, June 27, and Sunday, June 28. At various times during the weekend there will be music, games and contests. We will have a special guest appearance by the Long Island Ducks’ own Quackerjack at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 27. So come on down and get an autograph. Also, when you play a round of mini golf on Saturday you are automatically entered in a drawing for a chance to win an autographed Long Island Ducks baseball or some Ducks tickets and other prizes. On Sunday, June 28, from 1 to 4 p.m. we will have music and various contests for all ages. The new Snack Bar will be open for food and refreshments all weekend and we will have various mini golf discounts throughout the weekend and a few surprises too! So make your plans for the mini golf weekend and start the summer off right here in your own backyard. For more information call Steve Espey at Community Park 483-2525.

The Garden City Recreation Department is pleased to announce it upcoming Gazebo Concert Series. Our concerts are held at the Gazebo on the corner of Hilton and Stewart Avenues and begin at 7:15 pm.

Children must be the age listed by the start date of the camp in order to attend. Information on each camp is listed in the articles below. Charlie’s Champions Raise Close to $70,000 for Winthrop’s Cancer Center for Kids

To support Charlie’s Champions – a foundation created by Tara and John Schmitt in the name of their son, Charlie, who is currently a patient at Winthrop-University Hospital’s Cancer Center for Kids (CCFK) – almost 300 people including Garden City residents and their friends and family from Manhattan, Manhasset and points east participated in the Foundation’s legendary “Rage in the Cage” paddle tennis tournament.

 

MIRACLE Foundation Hosts 10th Annual Michael J. Tenaglia Golf and Tennis Classic

The MIRACLE Foundation, a not-for-profit cancer foundation, will host its tenth annual Michael J. Tenaglia Golf and Tennis Classic at the Cherry Valley Club and the Garden City Country Club in Garden City on Monday, June 8. The event, which attracts influential leaders in business and industry, will posthumously honor Foundation co-Founder Michael J. Tenaglia for taking a dream to help patients and families touched by cancer and making it a reality.

The outing includes golf and tennis tournaments, a silent auction and fabulous raffle prizes. “Our annual Golf and Tennis Classic is one of our most significant and enjoyable fundraising events, and provides an opportunity for our donors and friends to join together in celebration of our accomplishments and support our mission of finding a cure and improving access to treatment for cancer patients and their families,” Joseph Castronovo, foundation president, said.

Recreation Camps Announced

The Recreation Department has scheduled the following camps for our Garden City resident youth. Registration will be by mail only and will be announced in an upcoming article. The dates and age groupings are listed below. All camps are held in the morning unless otherwise noted. Camps that are listed by age must be that age by the start of the camp. Proof of age may be required.

 

Anton Newspapers Continuing Support For Blazing Trails 4-Autism Run

While the inaugural Blazing Trails 4-Autism 4 Mile Run was held six months ago, and the 2nd annual Run will be held six months from now – Sunday, Nov. 8 – there has been no interruption in the solid support for the event from the Long Island business community.

Angela Susan Anton, publisher of Anton Community Newspapers, announced a continuing “spectrum of support” for the run. The goal of the Blazing Trails 4-Autism Run is to increase awareness of autism and raise funds to help children and adults with autism and their families on Long Island. The run is conducted for the benefit of the Eden II/Genesis Programs, which provide specialized community based services and other opportunities to individuals with autism.
