The Annual Easter Festival and Antique Car Parade, sponsored by the Garden City Chamber of Commerce, is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Easter Sunday, March 31. The parade will step off from parking field No. 9E between Tenth and Eleventh Streets and will proceed south on Franklin Avenue to Seventh Street, west to Hilton Avenue.
Congratulations to Mayor-Elect John J. Watras, Trustees Dennis C. Donnelly, Trustee John A. DeMaro, Trustee-Elect Richard V. Silver, Trustee-Elect Robert A. Bolebruch and Justice Allen S. Mathers on their election last Tuesday.
I also want to express gratitude to all of the many residents who took the time to vote in the annual village election and encourage you to become familiar with your property owners’ associations and to become involved with it.
The four property owners’ associations, Central, West, Estates and East are organized according to geographic boundaries within the village and are the root of Garden City’s Community Agreement form of government. The Community Agreement was created to provide equal representation within village government and school district boards to each of the aforementioned sections. Participation in the property owners’ associations is the best way residents can learn about village affairs, contribute their point of view and volunteer their services to the community. Through the years, these four sections of the village have been responsible for producing many dedicated and talented volunteers. Every resident is encouraged to familiarize themselves with the community agreement which may be found on the home page of the village website.
The next board of trustees meeting will be the annual organizational meeting, on April 1. The meeting will be held in the boardroom at village hall.
